3. OR start thinking about your alternative lyrics project. Here are the specs:

CW 2 Lyrics Assignment

1. Pick 2 contrasting songs whose lyrics tackle the same theme. (Ex: break-ups, reaching for your dreams, anti-war, etc.)
Present both songs (you must have a working copy of the song on CD or MP3, as well as a copy of the lyrics—electronic is preferred).

2. Lead the class in discussion about the intricacies of style and approach to this common theme. How did the artists handle the theme differently? How are they the same? You must have at least 3-5 prepared, open-ended discussion questions. These must be approved by me, preferably the day before your presentation.

Ex. of good discussion question:
“Led Zepplin and T-Pain both talk about how difficult relationships can be. What are some ways that they reflect the time period in which they are writing?”

Ex: of not-so-good discussion question:
“Taylor Swift and Britney Spears are a lot alike in their discussions of being an independent woman. How?”

Ex: of a crap-o discussion question:
“So. How are these songs different?”
